FPL Gameweek 4 brings another important captaincy decision.

With the premium options faltering particularly from the penalty spot, there are credible alternatives to consider elsewhere. So who are the top picks?

Here are the top captaincy options for FPL Gameweek 4 in conjunction with Fantasy Football Hub’s powerful AI Points Predictions tool.

Erling Haaland has been tipped as the top captaincy candidate by AI for the fourth successive week, his predicted score edging towards double digits. The Triple Captain chip may even be tempting at home to Fulham, but that’s an awfully big call with double gameweeks to come later in the season.

Fulham are ranked top for expected goals conceded this season (9.7) while Manchester City are second for expected goals (7.07), hinting at one-way traffic in Saturday’s game. Haaland should retain penalties despite his miss at Sheffield United and is top for both shots and big chances this campaign.

Aside from Arsenal vs Manchester United, there are favourable fixtures all round for our go-to assets this week, with AI particularly favourable for Bryan Mbeumo against Bournemouth. The Brentford talisman sits on three attacking returns for the season so far.

The Cameroon international – who tends to complete 90 minutes in every game – is on all set pieces for the Bees including penalties, so there are plenty of routes to points. Opponents Bournemouth are without a clean sheet so far this season, conceding two goals per game on average.

Raheem SterlingRaheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling leads the way for transfers in this week by some margin after his 19-point haul against Luton Town last weekend. AI also predicts him to score strongly against Nottingham Forest, who are without a clean sheet so far this campaign.

His underlying numbers don’t quite live up to his returns so far, with six shots and four key passes – most of which came against Luton – but he does have an outside chance of penalties after Fernandez missed the one Sterling won against West Ham.
