Manchester City predicted lineup vs Manchester United – FA Cup final
Manchester City will look to take the next step to their treble when they face local rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
A rotated City lineup was beaten by Brentford in their final league game of the season but Pep Guardiola’s strongest team will be back to contest the final at Wembley.
Here’s the side they could deploy on Saturday afternoon with a Champions League final also on the horizon.
GK: Stefan Ortega – Has shown in recent displays against West Ham, Chelsea and Brighton he is a more than capable understudy to Ederson. Expected to get the nod as the cup keeper.
CB: Kyle Walker – Still utilising his cheat codes for pace and acceleration at the age of 33.
CB: Ruben Dias – Recently won the ‚Talent that Marks the World‘, a Portuguese prize that recognises the performances and achievements of Portuguese players and coaches.
CB: Nathan Ake – Has warned his teammates they cannot allow another tough refereeing decision to derail them in the final like in did in a 2-1 defeat to United in January.
DM: John Stones – His reinvention into a ball-playing midfielder has been one of the stories of the season.
DM: Rodri – Was name-dropped by Sergio Busquets as his potential successor at Barcelona alongside Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.
RM: Bernardo Silva – Has constantly been linked with Barça over the last few years, but whether the La Liga giants can actually facilitate a move is something else completely.
AM: Kevin De Bruyne – One player who has been ‚mentally completely drained‘ according to manager Guardiola, but one who will have large roles to play in the FA Cup and Champions League finals.
AM: Ilkay Gundogan – City’s clutch king will hope to come to the fore once again, contributing four goals and two assists in his last five games.
LM: Jack Grealish – Will hope for a better FA Cup final than he experienced in 2015, when his Aston Villa side were trounced 4-0 by Arsenal.
ST: Erling Haaland – Only has three goals in this season’s FA Cup. Sort it out, Erling.
