Inter looking to appoint Simone Inzaghi as Antonio Conte replacement
Inter are set to name Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi as their new manager following the departure of Antonio Conte just weeks after their Scudetto triumph.
Former Chelsea manager Conte made a sensational exit from San Siro on Wednesday evening, with rumours surfacing that he’d had a disagreement with the club’s hierarchy over finances.
Inter will have been keen to appoint a new boss as quickly as possible to begin preparing for their Serie A defence, and Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia had reported that a move had been made for Lazio’s Inzaghi.
Fabrizio Romano has now delivered his patented final blow, stating the deal is ‚done and completed‘.
Since taking over the Eagles in 2016, Inzaghi has ensured the club played European football in all of his five full seasons in Rome.
The 45-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young managers in Italian football, and it seems Inter are keen to secure his services having moved for the Lazio boss so soon after Conte’s departure.
Lazio were unable to reach an agreement over a new contract for Inzaghi, leaving the door open for Inter to make their move.
When Inzaghi is unveiled as the new Inter boss, it will represent an incredible move for the young boss given the amount of experienced managers potentially available this summer.
Massimiliano Allegri has been touted as a replacement for Conte, though the former Juventus boss is understood to be nearing a move back to the Old Lady with Andrea Pirlo’s future up in the air.
Maurizio Sarri’s name has also been mentioned with regards to the potential new man through the door, though it seems Inzaghi has been pinpointed as the man to oversee Inter’s title defence next season.
