Liverpool predicted lineup vs Bournemouth – Carabao Cup

Liverpool are back in Carabao Cup action on Wednesday when they take on Bournemouth in the fourth round.

The Reds beat Nottingham Forest on Sunday but now have to switch their focus to this game, which comes as part of a busy November schedule that will see them play five games across 15 days, so rotation is almost a requirement for Jurgen Klopp.

Here’s the lineup the boss could turn to for this one.

GK: Caoimhin Kelleher – Kelleher knows this is his competition. He’s firmly stuck behind Alisson in the pecking order and so will do everything he can to ensure a deep run this year.

RB: Joe Gomez – Limited defensive options should see Klopp turn to Gomez, whose inclusion should let Trent Alexander-Arnold rest his legs.

CB: Joel Matip – Having lost his place in the starting lineup, Matip may have to make do with minutes in this competition for now.

CB: Jarell Quansah – Quansah got an assist in the last round against Leicester and deserves the chance to test himself against more high-level competition here.

LB: Kostas Tsimikas – Andy Robertson’s injury has left Klopp with only Tsimikas as senior left-back cover. Luke Chambers will likely get some minutes but a start may be a step too far for the 19-year-old.

DM: Wataru Endo – Endo has really struggled for minutes since joining this summer and he’ll be keen to prove his quality to Klopp here.

CM: Alexis Mac Allister – Limited options may see Klopp keep Mac Allister in his team but expect to see some minutes for young James McConnell.

CM: Ryan Gravenberch – With Dominik Szoboszlai on fire right now, Klopp may opt to rest the Hungarian international and keep Gravenberch in from the start.

RW: Harvey Elliott – Ben Doak’s ongoing struggle with a muscle problem will likely keep him out here, meaning Elliott may need to head into an advanced role to let Mohamed Salah rest.

ST: Cody Gakpo – No longer a permanent starter, Gakpo needs a big performance here to propel himself back into Klopp’s thinking.

LW: Diogo Jota – Luis Diaz’s ongoing absence may see Jota continue in the team for now.
