What makes Girona’s start to the season so impressive is that they are without a number of first-team players who would improve the squad. Bernardo Espinosa, Borja Garcia, Joel Roca, Ricard Artero and Toni Villa are all out injured at the moment.
There’s a strong chance the same starting XI will be named from the victory over Villarreal, which was their fifth win in a row.
Girona predicted lineup vs Real Madrid (4-5-1): Gazzaniga; A. Martinez, E. Garcia, D. Lopez, Gutierrez; Tsygankov, Herrera, A. Garcia, Martin, Savio; Dovbyk.
Real Madrid have endured plenty of injury issues this season and they got worse against Las Palmas as Austrian centre-back David Alaba limped off with a thigh problem.
He will miss Saturday’s game but the club hopes Antonio Rudiger’s knock from the same match is not serious enough to keep him out. Alaba joins Eder Militao, Arda Guler and Thibaut Courtois on the injury list.
However, Vinicius Junior could be in line for his first start since mid August after he came off the bench against Las Palmas.
Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Girona (4-3-1-2): Kepa; Carvajal, Rudiger, Nacho, Garcia; Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga; Bellingham; Vinicius, Rodrygo.
At the very start of the season, this would have been a pretty easy game to predict. However, the result could go either way especially considering the confidence Girona are playing with.
Real Madrid are struggling for fit players in defence and with the Champions League returning next week with a trip to Napoli to think about, Los Blancos may not get it all their own way in Girona on Saturday.
