Much of the transfer market this week has been dominated by moves in and out of midfielders, with injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Marcus Rashford fuelling the situation. So who should be the top picks for the final two gameweeks?
Predicted Points: 9.9
Riyad Mahrez takes the headlines after starting the last four Premier League games for Manchester City. He was left out of the Champions League semi-finals starting lineup in midweek which only helps his prospects for minutes now but it always comes with risk when Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva can all play the role.
Mahrez has the form though with five assists in this spell. He sits second for key passes over the last three gameweeks with 12 but is perhaps over-performing with his assists coming from just two big chances created. His eye for goal is also down, with just five shots in this period.
Predicted Points: 9.2
If there’s an opening in your squad for a Brighton midfielder then it’s not too late to buy World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister who continues to gather fantasy points. He’s picked up goals in consecutive games, including a bizarre conversion against Everton.
Being on penalties is a huge part of his game, converting from the spot on six occasions this season, contributing to almost half of his attacking returns. His underlying numbers are positive too with 14 shots in the last four gameweeks and eight key passes, showcasing his ability to amass both goals and assists.
Predicted Points: 7.7
Manchester United have the pick of the fixtures and with motivation to triple up on their assets and rotation in the forward line, midfielder Antony has become an unlikely differential. He’s been benched just once since the international break and is currently in less than 5% of squads.
In that time he’s racked up a goal and two assists, with those returns coming in the games in which Marcus Rashford has been absent. If Rashford does see his minutes managed over this congested double then Antony could prosper. He sits second for shots (32) since the international break, having had four big chances on goal.
