PFA Vertu Motors Championship Fans‘ Player of the Year – 2022/23 nominees
90min is the home of the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for the 2022/23 season.
Each month, you can vote for your favourite players across five divisions of English football, for the chance to win incredible prizes, including the opportunity to present the award to the winning player.
The Championship campaign is coming to a close, and so it’s time to gear up for award season.
Burnley eased their way to the title playing some brilliant football under Vincent Kompany, while the race for the play-offs went down to the last day of the regular season. The battle to avoid the drop saw legendary manager Neil Warnock produce a near miracle to keep Huddersfield in the Championship.
In such a special season, there are a handful of players who have stood out more than most.
Here are your nominees for the 2022/23 PFA Vertu Motors Championship Fans‘ Player of the Year award.

Burnley’s top-scorer Nathan Tella was one of the signings of the summer, joing on a season-long loan from Southampton.
He provided 20 goal contributions for the Clarets, playing all over the pitch for Kompany.
Tella won the PFA Vertu Motors Player of the Month award in March.

The outstanding Swede had a brilliant season last year but he has gone even better this time around breaking the 20-goal barrier for the first time.
Second top-scorer in the division, Gyokeres also claimed double figures in assists.
He was nominated numerous times throughout the season for the player of the month honour.

The summer signing from Barnsley has proven a key figure their unexpected promotion push as they remarkably finished third.

Nominated five times for the PFA Vertu Motors Player of the Months award and winning on three occasions tells us just how dominant Chuba Akpom has been for Middlesbrough in what has been the greatest season of his career.
He started the campaign struggling for game time under Chris Wilder, but finished as the Championship’s top-scorer with 28 goals following the arrival of Michael Carrick.
Akpom has never hit more than eight goals in a season before this term.
