Leon vs Tigres UANL – CCL Preview: TV Channel, live stream, team news & prediction
After dispatching CD Motagua in the previous round, Tigres will look to advance to the CONCACAF Champions League final for the second time in three years. But they first face Club Leon.
Though their Liga MX Clausura campaign hasn’t gone well, currently sitting seventh in the league table, Robert Siboldi’s men still have a great shot at making their second CONCACAF Champions League final in three years.
Much like Tirges, Leon will head into this game only sixth in Liga MX with seven wins through sixteen games. Despite their poor league form, the Champions League will allow both teams to win some silverware.

Tigres will want to get a good start to their series against Leon. In their last game against each other, they fell 0-1 to Leon thanks to a Yairo Moreno goal.
Their most recent 1-0 Liga MX win vs. Puebla will give them the confidence they need heading into the matchup. Andre-Pierre Gignac will want to make his mark on the upcoming game after scoring in Tigres’ last league win.
Unfortunately, Los Tigres will be without center midfielder David Ayala who is out with a broken kneecap. The 22-year-old is expected to return in the next few weeks.
Leon will head into this match desperately looking for a win. After a loss and draw in their last two games, Nicolas Larcamon’s men will want a positive result against a fellow Mexican side.
The last time Leon and Tigres went head to head, Los Panzas Verdes managed a 1-0 victory. But it won’t be as easy this time.
Regarding injuries, Leon will be without right-back Jose David Ramirez who’s suffering from a hip injury, central midfielder Jose Rodriguez who has a knee injury, left midfielder Yairo Moreno who picked up a knock; and left-back Osvaldo Rodriguez, who is doubtful with an ankle injury.
Since it’s the semi-finals of a major tournament, both teams will come out with an abundance of caution.
Tigres is very experienced in the competition and will know they can win the tie during the return leg. Likewise, Leon will want to attack and score as many goals as they can if they want to take advantage of their home field.
With both sides in poor league form, this game may be a low-scoring, defensive-heavy match where both teams will feel each other out; it could even end in a 0-0 draw.
