FPL Gameweek 33: The best midfielders to sign

Business

The endless churn of football is cranking through its final revolutions with a round of midweek fixtures for Fantasy Premier League fans to prepare for.

FPL Gameweek 33 kicks off on Tuesday evening when Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Crystal Palace to Molineux. After the FA Cup semi-finals scuppered last weekend’s schedule, all 20 teams are back in action across the coming three days.

Manchester United squeaked past Brighton at Wembley Stadium courtesy of a sudden-death penalty shootout victory and close out the gameweek with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur – oh, how Spurs wish they did not participate in the Premier League last Sunday.

Here are the midfielders to bolster your FPL roster this week.

Decidedly absent from last weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures, Brighton will carry the pang of pain from a penalty shootout elimination into a trip to Nottingham Forest this Wednesday.

Mitoma was not part of the Brighton squad which hosted Forest back in October but has cemented his undroppable status with 12 combined goals and assists in 17 Premier League appearances since.

You may not have heard of this little gem but do yourself a favour and scour the edges of the FPL website to locate a certain midfielder by the name of Kevin De Bruyne.

Second-guessing Pep Guardiola’s lineup is a fool’s errand but if the roulette wheel lands on blue 17, there is every chance of De Bruyne slicing through Arsenal’s grumbling rearguard in the title showdown on Wednesday night. De Bruyne has scored more goals against Arsenal than any other club in his entire career (six).

Aleksandar Mitrovic may be oiling himself up on the sidelines but the rest of the Fulham squad has taken off their flip-flops in recent weeks.

In the absence of the club’s leading scorer, Pereira has shifted from the role of provider to finisher – or, at least shooter. The wily set-piece specialist netted his second goal in four games against Leeds last Saturday and has rattled off almost a third of his shots for the season this month alone.

Marcus RashfordMarcus Rashford

Almost every Manchester United attack is channelled through Marcus Rashford when the talismanic forward is on the pitch. Given the pathetically porous performance from Tottenham last weekend, there should be plenty of forward thrusts for Rashford to lead when United roll into north London on Thursday.

Spurs have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last seven Premier League matches, last shutting out an opponent with a 2-0 win over Chelsea in February.

When is the FPL Gameweek 33 deadline?

Midweek gameweeks are always the easiest deadlines to miss. Make sure you’ve made all the necessary alterations to your squad by the time 18:00 GMT rolls around on Tuesday evening.
