Chelsea vs Brentford – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups & prediction

Business

Two struggling west London sides will butt heads at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday when Chelsea host Brentford.

Chelsea have not won in their last seven games but will likely need three points here to have any chance of finishing in the top half of the Premier League table this season, with Brentford currently sitting tenth, five points ahead of the Blues having played one game more.

Brentford’s winless run is marginally shorter but the Bees are still searching for their first victory in over a month, while they’ve picked up just five wins in 2023 – one more than their wounded hosts.

Here’s all you need to know about this one.

Chelsea team news

Kalidou Koulibaly remains sidelined by his hamstring injury, joining striker Armando Broja on the sidelines.

Ben Chilwell is back available after serving his Champions League suspension but the likes of N’Golo Kante and Thiago Silva may get a rest here with next week’s game against Arsenal in mind.

(3-4-3): Kepa; Fofana, Chalobah, Badiashile; James, Fernandez, Kovacic, Chilwell; Mudryk, Havertz, Felix.

Brentford team news

Christian Norgaard will face a late fitness test after picking up a knock but could join Pontus Jansson, Kristoffer Ajer and Keane Lewis-Potter on the sidelines if he is not passed fit.

(4-3-3): Raya; Hickey, Mee, Pinnock, Henry; Jensen, Janelt, Dasilva; Mbeumo, Toney, Damsgaard.

There’s very little hope from either side heading into this one. Chelsea are objectively bad and waiting for someone to put them out of their Pochettino-less misery, but Brentford aren’t exactly in the best shape either.

The Bees are particularly vulnerable on the road these days, having lost their fear factor at the worst point of the season when it comes to their European ambitions. Chelsea have scored just once in their last four games, however, so won’t fancy themselves to take advantage of that.

This one has 0-0 written all over it.

Prediction: Chelsea 0-0 Brentford
