Man City injuries & suspensions ahead of RB Leipzig clash
Victory at Arsenal last Wednesday was meant to ignite Manchester City’s ascent to their third-straight Premier League crown, but the Citizens aren’t currently playing with the consistency and security that defined their previous triumphs.
Arsenal are once again in pole position following Saturday’s events. Their stunning victory at Villa Park was followed up by City dropping more points away from home as Pep Guardiola’s side faltered at Nottingham Forest. Thus, Arsenal are two points clear of the champions with a game in hand.
City’s quest for the domestic league title could be further compromised by the return of their Champions League campaign, which will condense the schedule and potentially force eyes to wander. Their ’struggles‘ in the league will only make Guardiola more determined in Europe, and their knockout phase begins away at RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.
Man City have no players suspended for Wednesday’s game and none of their squad picked up more than one yellow card during the group stage.
John Stones remains out for City after he picked up a hamstring injury in the FA Cup victory over Arsenal at the end of January.
The defender, however, is City’s only injury concern heading into Wednesday’s first leg.
