Liverpool predicted lineup vs Ajax – Champions League

Liverpool can secure their spot in the Champions League knockout stages with a draw away to Ajax on Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp will demand more, however, with three points likely necessary in the uphill pursuit of Napoli at the top of the group.

Here’s the lineup the boss could opt for to get the job done.

GK: Alisson – The Brazilian has just one European clean sheet to his name this year and will be looking to double that tally here.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – Made a nice attacking impact off the bench against Nottingham Forest and will likely reclaim his place from James Milner.

CB: Joe Gomez – Ibrahima Konate is nearing a return from a muscle strain but expecting Ibou to start this one might be a little too far.

CB: Virgil van Dijk – Thinks Peter Pan is a superhero.

LB: Andy Robertson – Hasn’t played too many minutes in the Champions League this season but will be expecting another start.

RM: Mohamed Salah – Limited attacking options could see Salah start out on the wing again, rather than in the central role which has yielded real improvement from the Egyptian in recent weeks.

CM: Thiago – An ear infection kept the tempo-setting Spaniard out of the Forest game but there is hope that he could make it back to the starting lineup here.

CM: Jordan Henderson – Finding the right midfielder to start alongside Thiago has been Klopp’s main dilemma this season. Henderson might get another go to prove himself.

LM: Fabio Carvalho – Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are both out so Carvalho should keep his space on the left.

ST: Roberto Firmino – The star of Liverpool’s season so far, Firmino netted twice in the 7-1 win over Rangers last time out in this competition.

ST: Darwin Nunez – Klopp is confident Nunez will be ready to start here, with the Uruguayan finding his feet at Anfield.
