Tottenham remain confident Harry Kane will sign new contract
Tottenham Hotspur are confident that Harry Kane will commit his long-term future to the club and want to reach an agreement over a new contract in early 2023, 90min understands.
Kane’s current deal expires in the summer of 2024 and he has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in the near future as his search for a first career trophy goes on.
Spurs have lost their last two games to all but confirm that they currently aren’t ready to challenge for the Premier League title, while 90min has previously reported of Juventus‘ interest in reuniting with Antonio Conte in the near future and Mauricio Pochettino’s interest in returning to north London.
Sources have told 90min that Tottenham would like Kane to lead by example and sign a new contract, though this is unlikely to happen before the end of the year.
The club aren’t worried about the current situation, though would prefer the striker to put pen to paper before the end of the season amid rising interest from Bayern.
90min reported last month that Spurs were becoming frustrated with the Bavarian’s public courting of Kane, with Bayern director Hasan Salihamidzic asked once more about a potential move over the weekend.
„Harry is a top player in the world but we’re not talking about other players who are signed to other clubs,“ he said.
„We have an attack that can keep up or be the best in Europe. We have different players. We tried to put together the attack in such a way that the coach had a lot of options.“
Kane has made a fine start to the 2022/23 season with 11 goals in 16 games for Tottenham in all competitions, and is now just seven behind Jimmy Greaves in Spurs‘ list of all-time top scorers.
