Juventus complete initial loan signing of Leandro Paredes from PSG
Juventus have announced the signing of Leandro Paredes from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Argentina international has joined on a season-long loan, though the move will be made permanent for an initial €22.6m fee if ‚certain given sporting objectives‘ are met.
„The roster of Juventus midfielders has been enhanced with the arrival of Leandro Paredes, who is officially a new Juventus player. The Argentine arrives on loan from Paris-Saint Germain,“ Juventus said in a statement.
Paredes is returning to Italian football after spending three years with Empoli and Roma. He left the Giallorossi in 2017 for Russian club Zenit, before joining PSG in 2019.
The 28-year-old leaves Parc des Princes after making 117 appearances for the French giants, winning three league titles and six domestic trophies.
Paredes becomes Juventus‘ sixth signing of the summer and the second to come from PSG, following Angel Di Maria in making the switch from Paris to Turin.
Juve have been in dire need of midfield reinforcements, with Di Maria suffering from an abductor injury and fellow new signing Paul Pogba sidelined with a knee problem.
The Bianconeri have made a slow start to the new Serie A season, picking up five points from their opening three games and their performances being criticised in the Italian media.
Paredes and Di Maria are set to face their former employers PSG in the group stage of this season’s Champions League.
