Raul Jimenez is set to undergo a series of tests next week which will determine when he can return to Premier League action, and Wolverhampton Wanderers are growing in confidence that he will be back on the pitch before the end of the current season.

The 29-year-old has already returned to individual training and has started working with the ball once again, only three months after suffering a fractured skull against Arsenal on November 29.

And with Jimenez making great strides in his progress, the club have organised a set of neurological tests for the beginning of March, which will decide when he can return to full training, reports the Daily Mail.

The Mexican striker has already begun rebuilding his fitness after his lengthy layoff, but he has yet to recommence full contact training or even head the ball since that horrific clash with Arsenal defender David Luiz.

Wolves are obviously concerned about rushing him back too quickly and undoing all of his hard work since the injury, but they are quietly confident that he is physically ready to take to the pitch before the end of the current campaign.

The Premier League side could even see Jimenez return to full training sometime in March, although those hopes may be slightly ambitious for the time being.

There were initial concerns that Jimenez’s career was in jeopardy after suffering his fractured skull, but all the talk suggests that he will in fact manage to make a dramatic and speedy recovery. Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed those beliefs, claiming he’s ‚totally confident‘ the forward will play again this season.

„I’m totally confident he will play again this season, for sure. He’s been able to participate in the initial part of the training sessions, and just being with his team-mates is a big help for him and for us.

„We are following the right protocols with no rush but we are delighted that now it’s getting better and better day by day. It’s fantastic for us.“
