The Manchester United lineup that should start against Chelsea
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer takes his Manchester United side to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, for a hotly anticipated Premier League clash with Chelsea.
The Red Devils have been formidable away from home in the league this season, winning eight and drawing four of their 12 games on the road. United currently sit second in the table and are six points clear of Chelsea in fifth, looking to solidify the prospect of a top two or three finish come the end of the campaign.
The hosts go into Sunday’s encounter having beaten Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash in midweek. Chelsea are also unbeaten under Thomas Tuchel, winning six of his eight games in charge so far.
Here’s the Manchester United team that should start on Sunday, looking to preserve the unbeaten run.
David De Gea (GK) – Dean Henderson has kept a clean sheet in his last three appearances, but Solskjaer still favours the Spaniard for Premier League action.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) – Is a guaranteed starter for the Red Devils, and nobody has made more tackles than Wan-Bissaka (129) in the Premier League this season.
Victor Lindelof (CB) – The Swede has been a solid performer for United this season and will once more partner Harry Maguire in the centre of defence.
Harry Maguire (CB) – Despite not playing on Thursday, the United captain hasn’t missed a league game this season.
Luke Shaw (LB) – With four assist in his last five games, the 25-year old has proved a valuable player going forward as well as at the back. A stand out for the Red Devils so far this season.
Fred (CM) – The Brazilian has been in fine form of late and now looks to be a key component of United’s midfield.
Nemanja Matic (CM) – With uncertainty over the fitness of Scott MacTominay and Donny van De Beek, it could be another start for the veteran Serb against his former employers.
Bruno Fernandes (AM) – The Portuguese star is the first name on the team and will again be the focal point. Has 34 goal contributions in all competitions this season.
Mason Greenwood (RW) – In-form Daniel James limped off after an hour against Real Sociedad, leaving Greenwood the viable option to return on the right.
Anthony Martial (ST) – With doubts over the fitness of Edinson Cavani, Martial is likely to start centrally – knowing he must improve on his poor record of four Premier League goals.
Marcus Rashford (LW) – Another key performer for United, Rashford is the man to start on the left of a front three. Will hope to cause trouble against the inexperienced defending of Callum Hudson-Odoi.
