England travel to Switzerland on Thursday evening for their final pre-Euro 2022 friendly prior to the tournament kicking off on home soil in less than a week’s time.

The Lionesses go into Thursday’s fixture off the back of a pair of emphatic victories over Belgium and the Netherlands, and will be hoping to make it three from three before beginning their Euros campaign against Austria on 6 August.

England face a Switzerland side who are in Group C at this summer’s Euros, and who will be looking to bounce back from their hefty 7-0 loss to Germany last time out.

When is kick-off? Thursday 30 June, 17:00 (BST)
Where is the match being played? Stadion Letzigrund
TV channel/live stream? ITV4, ITV Hub (UK)
What time does coverage start? 16:30 (BST)

Switzerland will be without Aston Villa forward Alisha Lehmann, who was ruled out of Euro 2022 in May as she did not feel mentally ready for the tournament.

Captain Lia Walti missed Switzerland’s defeat to Germany last time out with a thigh strain and may sit out again on Thursday evening as a precaution, with her side’s Euro 2022 opener just around the corner.

England will be without right-back Lucy Bronze, who has been ruled out of Thursday evening’s encounter due to illness. However, striker Ellen White will be available once more, having missed the Lionesses‘ victory over the Netherlands after testing positive for Covid-19.

Thursday’s game could see Sarina Wiegman give game time to those she has not yet started in England’s previous two warm-up matches; Manchester United duo Ella Toone and Alessia Russo, Chelsea’s Jess Carter and Arsenal’s Nikita Parris have only been used from the bench thus far, while Jill Scott and goalkeepers Ellie Roebuck and Hannah Hampton are yet to feature.

Switzerland: Thalmann; Maritz, Buhler, Kiwic, Aigbogun; Reuteler, Maendly, Sow, Xhemaili; Bachmann, Crnogorcevic.

England: Earps; Carter, Bright, Greenwood, Daly; Walsh, Williamson, Toone; Kelly, Russo, Parris.

Switzerland are one of the lower ranked sides at Euro 2022 and have not won an international match since their victory over Lithuania in November 2021, meaning England will be heavy favourites heading in to Thursday evening’s fixture. The potential absence of Lia Walti would be a big miss for Switzerland, given the composure she offers in possession and protection of the back four that she provides out of it.

England really showed their ruthless side during the latter stages against a tiring Netherlands last time out, and a similar approach on Thursday could see the Lionesses confidently dispatch the Swiss.

Score prediction: Switzerland 0-4 England
