Brighton have confirmed the signing of exciting 18-year-old Paraguay international Julio Enciso from Libertad Asuncion for an undisclosed fee.

The teenager has signed a four-year contract with the Seagulls, with the move still subject to international clearance. He will join the rest of the squad when they report back for pre-season later in June.

Manager Graham Potter said: “Julio is an exciting young talent, and he has had a great start to his career in Paraguay, as well as being a regular in the Paraguay national squad.

“He’s a young guy who is moving away from his home country for the first time, so we will help him to adapt to new surroundings and settle here in Brighton and Hove.

„We’re really looking forward to helping him develop and working with him, and he will complement our existing attacking options this coming season.”

Brighton had been close to bringing Enciso to the AMEX Stadium back in January, with 90min revealing they were closing in on the signing. He can play across the forward line but often operates as a second striker.

The teenager scored 11 goals and added three assists in 17 games for Libertad this season and has already made six international appearances for Paraguay.

It’s the latest South American scoop for Brighton’s scouting department. Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister are a couple of players who have been brought across to England’s south coast in recent years and gradually eased into Potter’s starting XI.
