Another epic Premier League season is finally over.

May was crunch time up and down the table as the title race, top four places and relegation scrap were all decided after a 38-game marathon for the teams involved.

As usual, there was agony and ecstasy up and down the table, with absolutely no end of drama.

2021/22 has been one to remember. Here are the best moments from the final month of the Premier League season…

May usually brings some very ‚end-of-season‘ results, and that was perhaps the case on the south coast with Man Utd’s players evidently already on holiday when they travelled to Brighton.

The Red Devils‘ slim Champions League hopes were emphatically ended by the Seagulls, who thumped their illustrious visitors 4-0, with wing-back Marc Cucurella the star of the show.

This was pretty much the result that ended Liverpool’s title hopes.

While the Reds found a leveller following Son Heung-min’s tap-in, they were unable to find a winner as they dropped two crucial points at Anfield.

Man City would eventually go on to win the title by a single point. Ouch.

When we reflect upon the 2021/22 season and Man City’s eventual triumph, one individual performance will stand out.

Kevin De Bruyne had already scored before City were pegged back by his compatriot Leander Dendoncker after 11 minutes at Molineux – where dropped points would have thrown the title race wide open.

However, De Bruyne was having none of it, grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck, completing a first-half hat-trick and adding a fourth within an hour to haul City to a 5-1 victory. Juggernaut.

May brought arguably the most hotly-anticipated north London derby in recent memory, with plenty riding on it.

A win for Arsenal would have secured a top four finish, while victory for Tottenham would give them a chance of reaching the Champions League.

A dramatic first half would see Spurs take the lead from the spot and Gunners defender Rob Holding dismissed for two very avoidable yellow cards.

Leeds had it all to heading into the last two games of the season, but a last-ditch point against Brighton gave them hope going into the final day.

The Whites completed their great escape with a dramatic victory at Brentford, while Burnley couldn’t save themselves by bettering Leeds‘ result at home to Newcastle, losing 2-1.

If you’re going to survive relegation, coming back from two goals down to secure your Premier League status is probably the best way you could possibly do it.

The Toffees needed three points to stay up with two games left to play, but were staring down the barrel at half-time in their penultimate game, 2-0 down to Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.

However, a rousing second-half comeback saw Frank Lampard’s men net three times, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin winning the match and provoking a pitch invasion with a fine header five minutes from time. I think the word is scenes.

A topsy-turvy final day was as dramatic as you could possibly imagine as the title race went to the wire.

Liverpool fell behind to Wolves almost instantly, while Man City found themselves two down to Aston Villa at the Etihad. However, Liverpool never actually found themselves in top spot despite equalising and eventually finding a winner.

Ilkay Gundogan’s introduction changed the game as City produced a five-minute comeback. Rodri pulled one back before Gundogan’s brace won the game and sealed the title. Cue another pitch invasion.
