Leicester 0-2 Slavia Prague: Player Ratings as Foxes crash out of Europa League
Leicester City crashed out of the Europa League round of 32 on Thursday night, losing 2-0 to Slavia Prague at the King Power Stadium.
The first half was frustrating for the Foxes. Despite dominating possession they did not click in the final third and it was their visitors who went closest to scoring when Abdallah Sima fired past the post, after seizing upon a mistake from Caglar Soyuncu.
After the break, Leicester’s frustration turned to anguish when Slavia took the lead through Lukas Provod.
Conceding was the shot in the arm that the hosts needed and they soon stepped up the intensity. However, despite bringing on the likes of Harvey Barnes and Timothy Castagne, Leicester failed to create anything and Sima put the game beyond all doubt with a fine, 25-yard strike 11 minutes from time.
Here are your Foxes player ratings from the King Power Stadium…
Kasper Schmeichel (GK) – 5/10 – Kicking was pretty horrendous to be honest. Little he could do about either goal.
Daniel Amartey (RB) – 5/10 – He just is not a right-back. Defended well enough but rarely, if ever, ventured forward.
Caglar Soyuncu (CB) – 4/10 – Whether it was due to fatigue or complacency, he put in an error strewn display. Did try to drive forward when the Foxes went behind in the second half, but then picked up a ridiculously stupid booking.
Jonny Evans (CB) – 6/10 – Did well for the most part. Was particularly dominant in the air, winning five of his six aerial duels.
Luke Thomas (LB) – 6/10 – Kept Sima quiet for the most part. Questions will be asked about whether he might have done better for the goal. Full of energy.
Wilfred Ndidi (DM) – 5/10 – One of Leicester’s more progressive passers – not they always came off. In fact, they rarely did.
Hamza Choudhury (CM) – 5/10 – Frustratingly passive in possession. Did break up the game effectively though, registering a combined five tackles and interceptions.
Youri Tielemans (CM) – 5/10 – Never looked fully comfortable filling in for James Maddison as Leicester’s most advanced midfielder. The sooner the England international returns the better.
Cengiz Under (RW) – 4/10 – Was heavily involved early on but his final product was poor. Faded as things progressed and he probably should have been substituted. Corners were rubbish too.
Jamie Vardy (ST) – 4/10 – Looks seriously low on confidence. Slavia did well to force him wide, but he was still pretty wasteful with his openings.
Marc Albrighton (LW) – 4/10 – Worked hard as always but may have been at fault for the Slavia goal. In possession he was not great, overhitting his crosses and lacking the necessary guile.
Timothy Castagne – 6/10 – Added some much needed thrust down the right. He should have started.
Ricardo Pereira – 6/10 – Deployed almost as a number ten after coming on. It was weird, but kind of worked at times.
Harvey Barnes – 5/10 – Looked dangerous at times after coming on but could not forced a breakthrough. Picked up a frustrated booking late on.
Sidnei Tavares – 6/10 – Not ideal circumstances to make his Leicester debut.
