Hyderabad FC co-owner, Varun Tripuraneni has admitted that they are confident of retaining star striker, Bartholomew Ogbeche at the club for the next Indian Super League (ISL) season, „revealing that the player is very keen to stay“.

Ogbeche has arguably been the best foreign striker in ISL history, with the player playing a key role in helping Hyderabad FC winning their maiden league title last campaign as he top scored in the league with 18 goals to win the Golden Boot award.

Out of the 47 goals Hyderabad scored last season, 18 were scored by the Nigerian which accounts for a staggering 39.1% – with it being difficult to figure out which is his weaker foot considering that he netted seven with his right-foot and six with his left.

“Bart is one player we would definitely like to retain for the upcoming season. He’s an incredible professional and has gotten better with age. I know that most of the clubs want him, but let’s see how things go,“ Tripuraneni said as quoted by Sportskeeda.

“I’m very confident that Bart will be with us. He was a crucial part of the team last season and enjoyed his time with the squad. He’s as positive as any other player in the group. I’m sure he’ll take the right decision. He’s very keen to stay,“ he added.

The 37-year-old has been extremely prolific for every club he has represented so far in the league as seen by a number of records he has to his name. The Nigerian is the all-time highest goalscorer in ISL history, while also being the top scorer for NorthEast United, Kerala Blasters and Hyderabad.
