Gabriel Jesus interested in playing in Europe despite Man City talks & Arsenal interest

Gabriel Jesus is interested in leaving England and trying his luck on the continent despite ongoing contract talks with Manchester City and interest from Arsenal, 90min understands.

As we revealed recently, talks are ongoing between the Brazil international and City over a new deal and the club have not given up on tying him down.

However, City have made it clear to the player’s representatives that they will look to move him on this summer if nothing is agreed – a situation mirroring that of teammates Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling.

We understand that finances are not a major issue, but his long-term future is. Jesus has been assured by Pep Guardiola and his staff that he indeed has a big future at the club, and they signalled that by starting him against Liverpool in the biggest game of the season a few weeks ago.

The arrival of Erling Haaland could also impact Jesus‚ future although City do not believe that Sterling, Mahrez and Jesus will all reject new deals and leave this summer.

Jesus’s representatives have rebuffed suggestions that any club is favourite to sign him at this stage due to the fact they are still in talks with City over a fresh deal.

Listen now to 90min’s brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders & Graeme BaileyToby Cudworth joins the show this week to discuss contract situations at West Ham, while there are updates on Man City’s pursuit of Erling Haaland and Chelsea’s plans for Romelu Lukaku.

Barcelona, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have all registered an interest in Jesus and we are told the player has a genuine interest in playing in Europe.

Arsenal are interested in Jesus and both manager Mikel Arteta and director of football Edu Gaspar are big fans of the Brazilian.

Edu is keeping tabs on Everton duo Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Arsenal are also very much in the race to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.
