Third-tier Ipswich have been drawn at home to WSL outfit West Ham in the quarter finals of the Women’s FA Cup.

Championship side Coventry United – who were on the brink of going into liquidation in December – have also been handed a fairytale draw against Arsenal, the most successful side in FA Cup history.

The draw for the quarter finals also produced replays of two former finals: Chelsea will host Birmingham just as they did in the 2012 final, while 2020 finalists Manchester City and Everton have also been drawn against one another.

The quarter final ties will take place across the weekend of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March.

Ipswich are the lowest ranked side remaining in the competition, having beaten fellow Southern Premier Division side Southampton on penalties in the previous round. Saints goalkeeper Kayla Rendell had netted a 120th minute equaliser, only for Ipswich stopper Sarah Quantrill to turn hero in the shootout with two spot kick saves.

The Tractor Girls are in the quarter finals for the first time in their history, having made national headlines back in the 2019/20 season, when they pulled off a trio of giant killings to reach the fifth round, before being comprehensively beaten by Manchester City.

They will face a West Ham side who were beaten finalists in 2019, and currently sit seventh in the WSL.

There are five former winners in the hat for the quarter finals; Arsenal, Birmingham, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester City.

Chelsea are the reigning FA Cup champions, after a Sam Kerr and Fran Kirby masterclass inspired the Blues to a 3-0 victory over Arsenal in December’s Wembley final.
