The best right-backs to sign on Football Manager 2022
Full-backs have never been more important than they are today. Some of the best teams in the planet revolve around dominance on either side of their defence.
If that’s the tactic you’re looking for in Football Manager 2022, there are a boatload of players to choose from and it can take a long time to find the right candidate… but that’s where we come in.
Here’s a list of all the best right-back options available on Football Manager 2022 after the Winter Update, regardless of your budget.
Alvaro Odriozola
R. Madrid (on loan at Fiorentina)
Madrid will offload Odriozola to you for just £6m, but you’ll have to wait until his season-long loan with Fiorentina comes to an end.
Theodor Gebre Selassie
Slovan Liberec
The 34-year-old still boasts an impressive 15 pace and 17 stamina, so you’ll get a lot for your £300,000.
Christopher Trimmel
Union Berlin
Another bargain bin option, 34-year-old Trimmel can be picked up for just £650,000.
Lorenzo De Silvestri
Bologna
Veteran De Silvestri will set you back around £2m and he should be able to give you a year or two of solid cover.
Damian Suarez
Getafe
£3m is the price tag for Suarez, who is out of contract at the end of the first season.

Danilo D’Ambrosio
Inter
He might be approaching 33 years old, but D’Ambrosio is still quality. He’s great at either right-back or centre-back and will cost you just £2.5m. A no-brainer in this price bracket.
Daniel Wass
A. Madrid
Having only joined the club recently, you’ll have to wait a bit to convince Wass to talk to you, but you’ll get the chance to lure him in for £7.5m.
Youssouf Sabaly
Real Hispalis
A nice crosser of the ball, Sabaly will set you back a cool £5m.
Luis Alfonso Rodriguez
Tigres
Rodriguez has never played outside of Mexico but he’s good enough to help out a smaller team in Europe, assuming you’ve got the £3m to convince Tigres to sell.
Kevin Malcuit
Napoli
Malcuit’s expiring contract means Napoli will sell him to you for just £2.5m.
Davide Calabria
Milan
Milan youngster Calabria is a first-team star who is only going to get better. His price tag of £18m will soon look like a bargain.
Adam Marusic
Lazio
A good option for either full-back role, Marusic is available for around £14m. He’s make an ideal wing-back thanks to his nice physical stats.
Elseid Hysaj
Lazio
Another Lazio option is Hysaj. Still only 27, he offers good value for his £16m price tag, but of the pair, Marusic is probably your better bet.
Noussair Mazraoui
Ajax
Mazraoui’s contract is winding down but that usually doesn’t stop top teams bidding for him. If you want him, you might have to pay around £16m to get him.
Mattia De Sciglio
Zebre
Another on an expiring contract, De Sciglio will cost you £12.5m if you cant wait a season to sign him for free.

Denzel Dumfries
Inter
Inter will sell you Dumfries for as little as £13m, which is an absolute steal for somebody of his quality. With the right management, you could help him improve significantly and turn him into a world-beater.
Matteo Darmian
Inter
Darmian comes in marginally cheaper than Dumfries at £11m and is a nice alternative if you miss out on the Dutchman.
Sime Vrsaljko
A. Madrid
No longer the wonderkid he once was, Vrsaljko is still a great option for any team at around £9m.
Santiago Arias
A. Madrid (on loan at Granada)
Similarly, Arias also comes with a £9m price tag but you’ll have to wait until his loan with Granada expires before you sign him.
Pierre Kalulu
Milan
Kalulu won’t give you an immediate return on your £17m investment, but he has the potential to be one of the game’s best right-backs, so he’s worth buying if you can wait a year or two for his full impact.
Tariq Lamptey
Brighton
The perfect mix of current and potential ability, Lamptey will cost you a hefty £60m to sign but you can rest easy knowing you’ll probably never need to sign another right-back.
Ridle Baku
Wolfsburg
If that £60m is too expensive, look at Baku instead. He’s got identical stats to Lamptey and similarly high potential, but will cost you half the amount.
Dani Carvajal
R. Madrid
Carvajal’s £15m price tag feels like a bargain, but you’ll need some hefty wages to throw at him to convince him to leave Madrid.
Ricardo Pereira
Leicester
One of the most exciting full-backs in England, Pereira comes with a sizeable £40m value but you’ll definitely get your money’s worth from him.
Jonny
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Jonny comes in marginally cheaper than Pereira at £30m, so he’s one to consider if your pockets aren’t as deep.

Benjamin Pavard
FC Bayern
Somebody of Pavard’s quality should cost you a lot more than £19m, but that’s what you can get the World Cup winner for. He’s 25 and elite all across the backline, and should be your first target for this role.
Kieran Trippier
Newcastle United
You’ll have to wait a little while before new signing Trippier will consider leaving Newcastle, but once you get to that point, a fee of around £45m should do it.
Danilo
Zebre
Just £23m will get you Danilo which, compared to a lot of other players in this price bracket, is great value.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo
Napoli
Di Lorenzo is a physical monster who is still only 27. You’ll have to pay £32m to get him, but that’s not bad for one of the best options in this position.
Juan Cuadrado
Zebre
If you’re happy for your right-back to be a little more attack-minded, Cuadrado is the real gem. He’s one of the best players on the game but will cost you just £21m, largely because he is 33 years old.
