Celtic will have to complete a famous European comeback if they are to make it through to the quarter-final of the Europa Conference League.

A 3-1 home defeat to Bodo/Glimt last Thursday has pushed Celtic towards the competition’s exit door and Ange Postecoglou will have to mastermind something special if his side are to avoid crashing out.

The Norwegians haven’t played since that game, with their domestic season yet to get underway, while Celtic made surprisingly hard work of Premiership strugglers Dundee to get some momentum back on their side with a 3-2 victory.

Bodo/Glimt have lost starting goalkeeper Nikita Khaikin, who was booked in the first leg and will now serve a suspension. Joshua Smits, who has played just three times since 2020, will start in his place.

Competition top scorer Erik Botheim departed for Krasnodar in the winter, but right winger Ola Solbakken, whose return of four goals is good enough for third behind Botheim and Roma’s Tammy Abraham, will start on the right.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Postecoglou, who remains without long-term absentees Kyogo Furuhashi, David Turnbull, Albian Ajeti and Mikey Johnston.

Up top, expect Georgios Giakoumakis to start. The Greek international was a second-half substitute in the first leg but bagged a hat-trick against Dundee in midweek and should be rewarded in this one.

Celtic are the favourites to win this one, but they were also the favourites to win the first leg before they were spanked 3-1, so that doesn’t really mean much.

Expect the Scots to come flying out of the gates in search for goals. Postecoglou’s men can be dangerous when they get firing on all cylinders and Bodo/Glimt will likely take more of a conservative approach and focus on protecting their lead, rather than adding to it.

Celtic probably should win this, but whether they’ll do enough to take the tie on aggregate is a different matter.
