West Ham interested in late swoop for Leeds winger Raphinha
West Ham could look to make a huge late move in the January transfer window as they prepare to test Leeds‘ resolve over Raphinha.
90min understands that the 25-year-old is interesting the Hammers, who are enjoying another excellent Premier League campaign, and a bid could be made before Monday’s deadline.
Raphinha has been Leeds‘ standout player of the season, scoring eight goals in 19 games, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side have generally struggled in their second campaign back as a Premier League club – they sit a lowly 15th in the table, although they have stretched their advantage over the relegation zone to seven points after a couple of recent wins.
Leeds‚ desire to keep hold of Raphinha could now be put to the test by a West Ham side who can offer the Brazilian a route into European football.
The Hammers are into the knockout stages of the Europa League after cruising through a group that contained continental regulars Dinamo Zagreb, Rapid Wien and Genk, and they would be able to register Raphinha as a new player if they’re able to agree a deal with Leeds.
There’s also a chance that West Ham could qualify for Europe again next season, too, with a fine domestic campaign to date leaving the club fifth in the Premier League table.
Even if Leeds are to reject West Ham’s advances, 90min understands that Ligue 1 heavyweights PSG are among a number of leading European clubs interested in signing Raphinha this summer, such has been the nature of his performances.
Raphinha’s Leeds contract runs until 2024, which he signed after his £17m arrival from Rennes.
