Amad Diallo set to complete Rangers loan move

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is on course to complete a loan move to Rangers before the January transfer window closes on Monday night.

The youngster’s loan to the Gers will not contain an option to purchase at the end of the six-month loan.

Amad is seen as a very bright talent for the future, highlighted by United’s willingness to invest up to £37.5m in him last January to buy him from Atalanta. But since recovering from injury earlier in October, he has only made one senior appearance so far this season.

The youngster was earmarked for a loan move this month in order to gain much-needed senior playing time and experience.

A move into the Championship was mooted and at one stage he looked to be only a few days away from following United teammates Tahith Chong and Teden Mengi to Birmingham. However, the clubs were unable to finalise the deal, even though talks continue.

Derby also showed interest but an approach from the struggling Rams was later ruled out by Wayne Rooney, while there was also brief talk of Nottingham Forest, where James Garner has spent the past year as a regular starter.

Amad has made nine senior appearances for United so far, scoring once. He will join a Rangers side that is on course to retain the Scottish Premiership title they won last season and can offer European football in the Europa League knockout rounds next month.
