Bayern Munich confirm Niklas Sule will leave in the summer
Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has confirmed Niklas Sule will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Sule’s future has been uncertain for some time with Die Roten attempting to tie him down to fresh terms on numerous occasions over the past six months.
However, it appears that the Bundesliga giants have finally accepted defeat with Kahn confirming the towering defender will leave Bavaria in the summer.
„The negotiations with Niklas dragged on for a very long time. We made him an offer. He didn’t accept it. He wants to leave the club at the end of the season,“ he said.
„We have a certain responsibility when it comes to the offers. We have to stick to certain financial conditions. It’s normal in this business that you’ll not always reach an agreement.“
Kahn was also quizzed about a possible replacement but insisted that while the club are always looking to improve, there are plenty of options already capable of filling in.
He added: „We always look at all options. We have a lot of options when it comes to the position. Of course we’re considering players. We have Lucas Hernández, an excellent centre-back in Upamecano, a talent in Nianzou. Pavard can also play there.“
In terms of Sule’s next steps, Barcelona have been heavily linked but 90min understands he is also an option for Chelsea. The Blues are growing increasingly concerned that they will lose Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen at the end of the season when their contracts expire.
