Premier League predictions & preview: Gameweek 14
The ever-popular winter schedule is upon us now, with a lovely round of midweek Premier League action to look forward to for gameweek 14.
There are a few biggies to look forward to here. Wednesday will bring us the Merseyside derby as Liverpool travel across the city to face Everton, before Manchester United and Arsenal butt heads to round things off on Thursday evening.
Here’s everything you need to know about all ten fixtures.
When is kick off? 19:30 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? St James‘ Park
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), Peacock Premium (US)
The only side without a win this season, moneybags Newcastle United will welcome a much-improved Norwich City side to St James‘ Park to get things underway.
Eddie Howe will be without some of his preferred defenders due to suspension, while new Norwich boss Dean Smith will be hoping that his side’s run of four points from a possible six will give them a boost.
Both times have looked more than a little wobbly this season, and ultimately, they might just cancel each other out.
Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 Norwich

When is kick off? 20:15 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Elland Road
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), NBCSN (US)
We’re sticking up north for Tuesday’s final game, with Crystal Palace making the long journey up to Elland Road to face Leeds United.
Leeds have fallen well short of expectations this year and are only narrowly above the relegation zone, but Palace’s own frailties have been on show in recent weeks after disappointing results against both Burnley and Aston Villa.
The home crowd may be crucial for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who could use that extra support to avoid another defeat.
Prediction: Leeds 1-1 Crystal Palace

After putting four past Man Utd earlier in November, Watford came crashing back down to earth by conceding four against Leicester at the weekend.
Chelsea also hit a bit of a bump, drawing 1-1 with United in a game which they would have run away with if their forwards had brought their shooting boots.
Thomas Tuchel will demand a reaction from his side, and like a wounded animal, expect Chelsea to come out fighting.
Prediction: Watford 0-3 Chelsea
When is kick off? 19:30 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? London Stadium
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), Peacock Premium (US)
This one is a battle between two sides looking to rediscover some positivity after their hot starts were slowed by recent slumps in form.
West Ham have lost their last two league games, while Brighton fans were surprisingly audible in their disappointment towards the recent goalless draw with Leeds, which extended their winless run to eight games.
The Hammers haven’t been their electric selves in the past few weeks, but their defeats have all been close and they’ll fancy themselves to get back to winning ways here.
Prediction: West Ham 2-1 Brighton
When is kick off? 19:30 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Molineux
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), Peacock Premium (US)
After seeing their weekend clash with Tottenham called off due to snow, Burnley will just be keen to get back on the pitch when they head on their trip to face Wolves.
The hosts have been quietly excellent this season, but they’ll have to make do without the suspended Ruben Neves for this one – an absence which may actually be a blessing in disguise with huge tests against some of the league’s heavy-hitters coming up.
Burnley are picking themselves up after a poor start, but they’re without some key players of their own and will likely struggle to match up to Wolves.
Prediction: Wolves 2-0 Burnley
When is kick off? 19:30 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? St Mary’s Stadium
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), Peacock Premium (US)
It’s been impossible to predict what you’re going to get from either Southampton or Leicester this season, so their meeting here really could go either way.
Leicester are the better side, but they haven’t always played like that in recent weeks, although they had their heads screwed on at the weekend as they thumped Watford.
Will they match that against Southampton? Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have been miserable over the past few weeks, so probably.
Prediction: Southampton 1-3 Leicester
When is kick off? 20:15 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Villa Park
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), Peacock Premium (US)
Steven Gerrard has enjoyed a nice start to life at Aston Villa, but maintaining that when Man City come to town is a whole different level.
Solid wins over Brighton and Crystal Palace have seen Villa begin to climb away from the relegation zone, but they will hardly have prepared themselves for a team like City, who have won five on the bounce in all competitions and looked relatively comfortable throughout that run.
Pep Guardiola’s men are the heavy favourites, and by the end of this one, we’ll probably see why.
Prediction: Aston Villa 0-3 Manchester City
When is kick off? 20:15 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Goodison Park
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), Peacock Premium (US)
Rounding out Wednesday’s action is a big’un. It’s Merseyside derby time.
Everton will be most nervous heading into this one. Their only win in their last ten games came against bottom side Norwich, with Rafa Benitez’s side falling to seven defeats and two draws in that time.
While that’s been going on, Liverpool have been soaring. Eight of their last ten have ended in victory, the most recent of which was an emphatic 4-0 thumping of Southampton. Everton will be scared, and rightly so.
Prediction: Everton 0-2 Liverpool
When is kick off? 19:30 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), Peacock Premium (US)
The next instalment of ‚Are Tottenham actually any good?‘ will see them host Brentford in the first of Thursday’s games.
Antonio Conte’s side saw their trip to Burnley postponed, meaning that defeat to Mura remains fresh in the memory and they will be absolutely desperate to banish those demons with a good result here.
However, Brentford are tricky customers. They’re obviously not the best team in the division, but they’ve done a great job of making life difficult for almost everybody they’ve faced. They’ll make things tough for Spurs, but you can’t help but feel as though they’ll come up short.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Brentford
When is kick off? 20:15 (GMT)
Where is the match being played? Old Trafford
TV channel/live stream? Amazon Prime Video (UK), Peacock Premium (US)
Saving the best for last (maybe), gameweek 14 ends with the heavyweight clash between Manchester United and Arsenal.
Will this be Ralf Rangnick’s first game in charge of United? He’s waiting for the necessary work permit and may end up having to watch these old rivals butt heads from the stands.
Michael Carrick’s United weren’t pretty last time out against Chelsea but they still managed an impressive draw, while Arsenal got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory over Newcastle at the weekend.
Arsenal are undoubtedly the form side, but United’s home advantage could be crucial here.
Prediction: Manchester United 1-0 Arsenal
