Man Utd predicted lineup vs Chelsea – Premier League

Business

Michael Carrick will lead Manchester United as caretaker for the first and last time in the Premier League in Sunday’s trip to London to face Chelsea.

Ralf Rangnick is set to take over on a short-term contract following the game and will lead United for the rest of the season until a permanent manager is appointed.

Carrick oversaw a win in the Champions League in his only other game in charge as United beat Villarreal in Spain, a much needed boost after last weekend’s heavy thrashing by Watford.

Here’s a look at the starting XI the caretaker boss could pick…

Eric BaillyEric Bailly

David de Gea (GK) – The consistency is finally coming back. Kept Villarreal at bay and the Watford score-line would have been worse without him.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) – Still lacks genuine competition for his place. The Rangnick era could make or break him in the coming weeks.

Eric Bailly (CB) – Harry Maguire’s suspension will see the Ivorian come into the side for only his second league start. United are temporarily down to the bare bones in the centre of defence.

Victor Lindelof (CB) – Suddenly finds himself tasked with being the senior centre-back and leader, despite being third choice overall.

Alex Telles (LB) – Ongoing doubts about Luke Shaw following a second head injury in as many weeks mean there is an opportunity here.

Donny Van De BeekDonny Van De Beek

Scott McTominay (CM) – Can be a driving force on his day and often steps up for the bigger games. Has had his fair share of setbacks this season with surgery in the summer and illness earlier this month.

Donny van de Beek (CM) – Has done enough to earn this chance for a first Premier League start since May. Fred is an injury doubt and the only other real option is Nemanja Matic.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) – Will be keen to get back to his best form. Wasn’t good against Watford and will likely benefit from playing in a more cohesive tactical system once Rangnick takes over.

Jadon SanchoJadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho (RW) – Finally looks to be settling in a little more and scored his first goal for the club against Villarreal in midweek.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST) – Despite a glut of Champions League goals, the veteran has only scored once in his last seven Premier League games. The start of a promising relationship with Sancho could change that.

Marcus Rashford (LW) – Usually has a good game against Chelsea and some of his best United goals have come against the Blues.
