Everton predicted lineup vs Brentford – Premier League
Everton travel to Brentford on Sunday afternoon, hoping to bring an end to a woeful run of form.
Rafael Benitez’s side have managed to follow a brilliant beginning to the 2021/22 campaign with a concerning run of six Premier League fixtures without a win. The Toffees have lost four in that period, including a 5-2 thrashing at the hands of Watford and most recently being played off the pitch by a dominant Manchester City in a 3-0 defeat.
In their way on Sunday are a Brentford side slipping down the table after a solid start. Similarly to Everton, the Bees have failed to win in five and ended a run of four consecutive defeats with a thrilling 3-3 draw at Newcastle last time out.
Here’s who Benitez could opt for on Sunday.
Jordan Pickford (GK) – Number one for Everton and England, Pickford’s a pretty safe bet to start.
Seamus Coleman (RB) – In for a tough afternoon against flying wing-back Rico Henry, although his experience should give him the upper hand defensively.
Ben Godfrey (CB) – Has featured in every Premier League fixture since mid-September and, in Yerry Mina’s continued absence, will surely do so again here.
Michael Keane (CB) – Hasn’t missed a minute of league action this term, so will likely start at the heart of defence for his side’s trip to Brentford.
Lucas Digne (LB) – His attacking output was non-existent last time out but, with Sergi Canos‘ preference for his attacking duties as wing-back, the Frenchman could take advantage on Sunday.
Allan (CM) – Has been a stalwart since signing for the club, rarely missing a fixture when fit. In line for a 13th Premier League outing of the season this weekend.
Abdoulaye Doucoure (CM) – His long-awaited return could come at Brentford. Has been missed hugely and, if fit, will no doubt come straight back into midfield.
Andros Townsend (AM) – Has had a massive impact and managed three goals and two assists in the league since his arrival, although will be searching for his first goal involvement in six appearance at Brentford.
Anthony Gordon (RW) – Has put in some really bright performances for club and country this season, although will want to start producing something tangible in the Premier League sooner rather than later.
Salomon Rondon (ST) – Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s return cannot come soon enough. It’s harsh to say, but Rondon just does not cut it.
Alex Iwobi (LW) – Demarai Gray was forced off the pitch at Manchester City and isn’t expected to be ready for Sunday’s clash, leaving the door open to Iwobi.
