Bayern Munich 5-0 Dynamo Kyiv: Player ratings as Bavarians cruise to win

Business

Bayern Munich continued to score for fun on Wednesday night as Robert Lewandowski, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting bagged the goals in a 5-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday evening.

As you can probably guess, Robert Lewandowski had a good evening in front of goal. It all started when Serhiy Sydorchuk handled the ball and gifted Bayern a penalty – a spot kick which he obviously converted with ease.

He then scored again about 14 minutes later. Because of course he did. This time he was fed the ball by Thomas Muller, before he rifled it into the bottom right corner of the net.

Bayern could have had even more before the end of the half, with a wonderful Leroy Sane strike from the edge of the box cannoning off the post, a Lewa header going over (yeah he actually missed for a change), and Dayot Upamecano also nodding too high from a corner kick.

The second half was much the same – Bayern dominating, and everyone feeling sorry for Dynamo Kyiv being so blatantly out of their depth against the German champions.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side finally bagged their third goal of the evening in the 67th minute through (no, not Lewa) Serge Gnabry. The forward sped through on goal before thundering the ball into the top right corner.

Then the fourth came – because Bayern are brilliant. It was Sane’s turn this time, as the forward’s misplaced (we think…) cross from the left wrong-footed Heorhiy Bushchan in goal. Then, of course, they scored a fifth – Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting nodding home a Benjamin Pavard cross.

Here’s how the Bayern players rated.

Manuel Neuer (GK) – 6/10 – Made a decent save late in the first half following a swift Dynamo Kyiv counter-attack. Other than that, might has well have sat at home.

Niklas Sule (RB) – 6/10 – He does not look like a right-back, but he can play the position surprisingly well.

Dayot Upamecano (CB) – 6/10 – Dealt well with everything that came his way. Which wasn’t a lot, but still.

Lucas Hernandez (CB) – 6/10 – So, so good on the ball. If he can stay fit, Bayern could win the whole competition.

Alphonso Davies (LB) – 7/10 – Going forward, there’s probably no better full-back in world football (sorry Trent Alexander-Arnold stans).

Joshua Kimmich (CM) – 7/10 – Yep, he was great. Dynamo Kyiv couldn’t get within a million miles of him all night.

Leon Goretzka (CM) – 7/10 – Dominant in the middle of the park alongside Kimmich. A perfect midfield partnership.

Thomas Muller (AM) – 7/10 – Set up a goal, as per. Was very good, as per.

Serge Gnabry (RW) – 8/10 – Scored a wonderful goal, and was generally impressive all night.

Robert Lewandowski (ST) – 9/10 – It’s actually ridiculous how good he is. Ridiculous. Scored two to make it *checks notes* 13 goals in nine games so far this season. Ridiculous.

Leroy Sane (LW) – 9/10 – He looks to have found some confidence and form under Nagelsmann. He ripped Oleksandr Tymchyk limb from limb on Wednesday evening, setting up a goal, and scoring one too.

Jamal Musiala – 6/10 – He’s a serious talent, and impressed when he came off the bench.

Benjamin Pavard – 6/10 – Came off the bench and set up a goal. Nice one.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting – 7/10 – Came off the bench and scored. Nice one.

Bouna Sarr – N/A.
