Kylian Mbappe unlikely to be sold by PSG
Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to dig their heels in over the future of forward Kylian Mbappe and reject the chance to sell him to Real Madrid this summer.
Mbappe has entered the final year of his contract and has made it clear he wants to join Real, but despite the Spanish side lodging a bid worth €180m (£154m), PSG have stood firm and refused to sell.
With the clock ticking down, sources have confirmed to 90min that PSG have turned that bid down as they believe that Mbappe, who netted both goals in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Reims, is worth significantly more than that.
Real are prepared to come back with a third bid worth closer to the €200m mark, but there are fears that such an offer will still not be enough as those in charge at PSG have never shown any real willingness to even engage in talks with Real.
The first two bids, worth €160m and €180m, have been made through intermediaries as Real have found it difficult to speak with the PSG chiefs, whose plan is to keep Mbappe beyond the summer and eventually convince him to renew his contract.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi hopes that the super-team he has built around Mbappe, which has seen Neymar joined by Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos and Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer, will ultimately convince the 22-year-old that he would be better off staying.
While Mbappe is happy in Paris – his home city – he is adamant that he wants to move to Real and sources close to the situation have revealed that the Frenchman is delighted with the Spanish side’s determination to sign him against the odds this summer.
Mbappe is confident that heading to Madrid is the right move for him, and although he would prefer to move this summer, he is more than willing to spend another year with PSG before heading to the Santiago Bernabeu for free.
PSG are well aware of that stance but hope to prove to Mbappe that he can be more successful at the Parc des Princes and convince him to ink a new contract before January arrives and he is free to sign a deal with Real.
