Ronald Koeman will be lamenting the loss of Gerard Pique to a calf injury, with the Spaniard expected to be sidelined for two weeks. Eric Garcia is suspended after his dismissal against Athletic Club, while Pedri has been granted a short break following his exploits for Spain at the Olympics.

Oscar Mingueza has returned to training for Barca but is unlikely to feature, while Marc-Andre ter Stegen is close to returning to competitive action.

For Getafe, Brighton-bound Marc Cucurella has been given down time after his exertions at the Olympics alongside Pedri, while Sabit Abdulai is out with a knee injury.

Barcelona: Neto; Dest, Araujo, Lenglet, Alba; Busquets, Roberto, de Jong; Griezmann, Braithwaite, Depay.

Getafe: Soria; Olivera, Mitrovic, Dakonam, Suarez; Alena, Maksimovic, Arambarri, Vitolo; Ramirez, Unal.

These are the games in which Lionel Messi’s individual brilliance tended to drag Barcelona across the line. Alas, the Argentine now struts his stuff in Paris and the new front three of Griezmann, Braithwaite and Depay will be tasked with supplying the goals.

The positive for Koeman is that each have showed promise this term, although the Barca boss will keen to hone their chemistry after a disappointing display last time out against Athletic Club.

Getafe will fancy their chances against a makeshift Barcelona defence in the absence of Gerard Pique, but they have failed to find the net this season and, like Athletic Club last weekend, scoring first will be vital.

Prediction: Barcelona 2-0 Getafe
