PSG predicted lineup vs Stade de Reims – Ligue 1

Business

In the middle of a storm of transfer speculation, PSG will travel to the north of France to take on Stade de Reims in a crucial Ligue 1 clash on Sunday evening.

If anything, the game will almost be a distraction to the Parisians, given the transfer talk surround Kylian Mbappe.

Not only have Real Madrid made a €180m bid for Mbappé, but PSG are also said to be interested in signing Richarlison from Everton.

Lionel Messi is also expected to make his debut for PSG this weekend after joining form Barcelona earlier this month. Which, yes, is also quite a big deal.

With so much going on, this is the team Mauricio Pochettino is expected to name.

Keylor Navas (GK) – After conceding twice against Stade Brestois and Strasbourg, the Costa Rican will be focused on keeping a clean sheet this weekend, especially with Gianluigi Donnarumma waiting in the wings.

Achraf Hakimi (RB) – The new recruit from Inter was electric last week as PSG saw off Stade Brestois. His runs down the right flank were crucial in the Parisians free flowing attack at the Stade Francis-Le Blé.

Presnel Kimpembe (CB) – After two games, PSG have conceded four goals. With Sergio Ramos working his way back from injury, pressure will be on the PSG centre back to deliver.

Thilo Kehrer (CB) – After a misplaced pass from the German international led to Brest’s first goal last weekend, he will want to make amends on Sunday.

Abdou Diallo (LB) – Reims have played three games and drawn three this season. The team know how to grind out and get a result. Having a full-back who can get forward and overload the opposition is vital in breaking down teams like that.

Ander Herrera (CM) – Against a well disciplined Reims team, a solid holding midfielder is needed to win the ball back and control the centre of the pitch. Someone of Herrara’s calibre should thrive in this role on Sunday.

Marco Verratti (CM) – The Italian made his return to PSG last week and he showed no signs of rust in the 4-2 win. Reims will be a tougher opponent for PSG, and an in-form Verratti is needed if the Parisians are to take all three points.

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM) – Mauricio Pochettino is expected to change to a 4-3-3 formation on Sunday, a move that will accommodate Lionel Messi. The former Liverpool midfielder is expected to play a huge part in a forward role in PSG’s midfield trio.

Lionel Messi (RW) – The superstar forward is tipped to make his debut at the Stade Auguste-Delaune this weekend. In a new 4-3-3 system, he will begin life at Paris on the right flank.

Mauro Icardi (ST) – In Pochettino’s new formation, Icardi is expected to be the focal point of the three pronged attack.

Angel Di Maria (LW) – With so much speculation surrounding the future of Kylian Mbappé, Di Maria is expected to return to the left wing on Sunday evening.
