Manchester United host historic rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, in a huge Premier League clash.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side come into this game full of confidence, having capped off an excellent April – in which they won six and drew one – with a 6-2 thrashing of Roma in the first leg of their Europa League semi final tie. In the Premier League, United haven’t lost since late January and have won four of their last five, leaving them second in the table, currently 12 points clear of fifth with just five games remaining.

Their visitors have had a season to forget. Jurgen Klopp’s side currently occupy sixth position in the standings and are four points adrift of the Champions League spots. However, Liverpool have won three and drawn two of their last five Premier League matches and, fortunately, a more orderly conclusion to the campaign looks likely.

Here are 90min’s picks for the United lineup that should start to overcome Liverpool.

Dean Henderson (GK) – David De Gea played against Roma and, although Henderson has kept just one clean sheet in his last five, he seems to be the preferred number one in the Premier League.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) – Having an excellent season defensively and no one at United has made more tackles than his 85 in the league.

Victor Lindelof (CB) – Has shown good form of late and is comfortably the preferred option to partner the skipper at the back.

Harry Maguire (CB) – Can create United history on Sunday by surpassing Gary Pallister’s record to complete 90 minutes in 72 consecutive Premier League games.

Luke Shaw (LB) – Another United man who’s having a sensational campaign. Has turned into a big player for Solskjaer and will surely start this one.

Fred (CM) – Was poor in the build up to Roma’s second goal on Thursday and will have to be more switched on against the likes of Roberto Firmino and Thiago.

Scott McTominay (CM) – Hasn’t scored or assisted in 18 appearances but brings a lot to the centre of the field and should be the box to box man on Sunday.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) – One of the best players in the world on his day. Was back on top form against Roma with a brace of goals and assists, and will look to add to his ridiculous 41 goal contributions for the season on Sunday.

Marcus Rashford (RW) – No goal in his last four but the boyhood United fan will relish his opportunity to add to his 20 strikes for the campaign against Liverpool.

Edinson Cavani (ST) – Could be a little fatigued from his exceptional showing on Thursday, but his two goals and two assists to match Fernandes on the night demonstrated how integral he can be to the side.

Paul Pogba (LW) – Has been excellent in recent weeks and really makes an impact from the left, having scored one and assisted four in his last seven for United.
