Bruno Fernandes has revealed he’d love to manager Manchester United once his playing career comes to an end.

The Portuguese midfielder has become a fan favourite since moving to Old Trafford from Sporting CP little over a year ago, helping to secure Champions League football with eight goals and seven assists during his first half-season with the club.

His stellar form has continued into the current campaign and United look well set to equal their best final Premier League standing since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013.

At 26 years of age the Portugal international’s best football is surely yet to come, but that hasn’t stopped him contemplating what route he’ll take once he hangs up his boots.

During a Q&A session he was asked of his plans once he retires from football. The midfielder confirmed he intends to stay in the game and went on to provide an answer which will most likely come as music to the ears of United fans.

„I think I want to be a coach,“ he said as reported by Desporto. „Honestly, I would like to be a coach. I don’t know which team I would like to coach. If I manage to coach the biggest team, Manchester United, I will be happy.

„I leave these words here, so if people see this and I become me a coach in the future, you can put pressure on me to come here.

„I think I would like to be a coach in the future. I’m not sure, but taking into account how I feel about football, I have to stay in this sport, it’s my life.“

Elsewhere in the interview, Fernandes was asked to name the best five players in Portugal’s history and his choices weren’t too bad.

The United man picked Rui Costa, Deco, Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Carvalho, before going on to describe the former Chelsea centre-back as ‚an elegant player‘.
