Barcelona’s best players in 5-0 win over Young Boys
Barcelona were fully expected to put Swiss Pro League side Young Boys to the sword on Tuesday evening and they did exactly that.
La Blaugrana bounced back from their Champions League Gameweek 1 defeat to Monaco with a thumping 5-0 win over Young Boys at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
Goals from Raphinha, Inigo Martinez, an own goal from Mohamed Aly Camara and an impressive brace from Robert Lewandowski earned the emphatic victory.
Here are Barca’s best-performing players in the win, according to 90min’s esteemed player ratings.
Robert Lewandowski: 9/10
Having struggled by his own lofty standards in front of goal in 2023/24, many thought Robert Lewandowski’s time as an elite goalscorer had come to an end.
Judging by his start to 2024/25, however, that is certainly not the case.
Lewandowski has been banging in the goals left, right and centre so far this season, netting his eighth and ninth in all competitions during the win over Young Boys.
Nine goals in ten games is quite the return for a 36-year-old.
Raphinha: 9/10
Raphinha is in the form of his life right now.
The captain for the evening was extremely clinical in the final third once again on Tuesday, setting up Lewandowski’s opener with a clever low cross before latching onto a loose ball in the box to fire in a goal of his own to make it 2-0.
Those contributions took his tally for the season to six goals and three assists. Top class.
Inigo Martinez: 9/10
A centre-back with a goal and an assist in a Champions League game? That’s not something you see very often.
Both Inigo Martinez’s goal and his assist came courtesy of his head, but it was still top-class forward play from the big centre-half.
