Man Utd vs Tottenham: Preview, predictions and lineups
Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday after both sides were in Europa League action midweek.
Man Utd’s European journey got off to a rocky start as they failed to press home their advantage during a 1-1 draw with Dutch outfit FC Twente on home soil. It followed another frustrating draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with the Red Devils‘ profligacy proving costly.
Tottenham’s Europa League campaign began with victory against Azerbaijani opponents Qarabag on Thursday. Despite a delayed kick-off and early red card, the Lilywhites ran out 3-0 winners to further ease growing pressure on Ange Postecoglou. Spurs have now won three games on the bounce.
This fixture has offered up plenty of drama in recent years, especially at Old Trafford. The last five meetings have seen 21 goals scored, including a 3-2 victory for Man Utd in 2021/22 and a 6-1 win for Spurs the season prior.
Here is 90min’s guide to an exciting Premier League duel.

The injured defensive quartet of Leny Yoro, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain sidelined but Man Utd have welcomed Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund back from injury in recent fixtures.
Christian Eriksen has been in fantastic form ahead of the visit of his former employers. The veteran midfielder scored against Twente and has started four successive matches, with Kobbie Mainoo returning to partner him on Sunday.
Matthijs de Ligt should replace Harry Maguire for Sunday’s encounter and Alejandro Garnacho threatens Amad Diallo’s starting spot. Joshua Zirkzee faces significant competition from the returning Hojlund.
Man Utd predicted lineup vs Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Mainoo, Eriksen; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Zirkzee.
Heung-min Son will face a late fitness test to determine his availability after he was withdrawn early against Qarabag on Thursday night. However, the skipper is likely to feature from the start this weekend.
Both Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are guaranteed absentees at the weekend, leaving Tottenham a little light in the final third. However, Dominic Solanke has now scored twice in two games for the Lilywhites and Brennan Johnson is also in fine form.
Radu Dragusin was sent off against Qarabag but is only suspended in UEFA competition, meaning he will be on the bench at Old Trafford.
Tottenham predicted lineup vs Man Utd (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son.
With both sides in patchy and unconvincing form, it’s difficult to anticipate which version of these teams we will witness at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have been wasteful in their last two matches but boast a plethora of attacking talent, with Tottenham having kept just one clean sheet in the Premier League this term. For Spurs, the issues have been at the back, with just four teams having scored more than their nine goals in the league.
Two of the last three meetings have finished in a 2-2 draw and we fancy another this weekend.
