Ruesha Littlejohn and Lucy Quinn reveal WSL Fantasy League teams
Republic of Ireland internationals Ruesha Littlejohn and Lucy Quinn have revealed their fantasy WSL teams on the latest episode of the ‘Life’s a Pitch’ podcast.
The 2024/25 WSL campaign got underway last week and Chelsea, Manchester United, Brighton and Tottenham were the teams to get off to a winning start. Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Leicester City drew their respective games.
Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham and Crystal Palace suffered opening day defeats, and will hope to secure their first wins next time out. Chelsea are the current holders after pipping Manchester City to the title last term, while Palace are newcomers to the league following their promotion from the Championship.
Speaking on the Life’s a Pitch podcast, Littlejohn and Quinn have shared their fantasy teams for the new campaign.
“This is the first time I’ve ever played fantasy football,” Littlejohn said. “It’s not as easy as I thought it was because the team I’d picked was absolutely outrageous, but I tried to save it and it said I don’t have enough funds. Or, there were too many players from the same team.
“My team name, I went for Ruenited. It’s to the point and simple.”
Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton and Manchester United defender Dominique Janssen are among the names in Littlejohn’s team. “Hampton can play with her feet,” the midfielder continued.
“Janssen has come back [into the league]. She’s very experienced, and for the price tag she’s very reliable. She’s won the Champions League, she’s won leagues, she’s played in Germany and she’s played in England before.”
Speaking about her team, Quinn added: “I have to confess, I stole the name of my team because I was the star in the programme at Birmingham City this week, and their headline was ‘Quinn it to win it’.
“I went the same with Hannah Hampton. I just think she’s an unbelievable goalkeeper and she’ll start for Chelsea, I think she’ll be number one. I also have Ramirez because I think she’s a machine, Beth Mead is proven and Miedema is the WSL all-time leading goalscorer.”
Littlejohn’s fantasy team: Hannah Hampton, Courtney Brosnan; Dominique Janssen, Leah Williamson, Alex Greenwood, Katie McCabe, Millie Bright; Kenza Dali, Erin Cuthbert, Katrina Gorry, Grace Clinton, Dagny Brynjarsdottir; Vivianne Miedema, Beth Mead, Kiko Seike.
Quinn’s fantasy team: Hannah Hampton, Becky Spencer; Ashleigh Neville, Gemma Evans, Alex Greenwood, Millie Turner, Gemma Bonner; Kenza Dali, Frida Maanum, Guro Reiten, Hayley Raso, Saori Takarada; Vivianne Miedema, Beth Mead, Mayra Ramirez.
