15 Premier League players expected to seal late deadline day moves
The summer transfer deadline is approaching fast and there are still plenty of deals left to be completed.
Some of the summer’s longest-running sagas have not yet reached a definitive conclusion, while deals conjured closer to Friday’s deadline are cutting it fine as well.
Early movers on the final day of the window include Aaron Ramsdale, from Arsenal to Southampton in a deal worth £25m, Sam Johnstone, from Crystal Palace to Wolves for an undisclosed fee, and Djordje Petrovic, from Chelsea to Strasbourg – the Blues‘ sister club under the BlueCo ownership regime.
Here are 15 players we expect to have joined a new club by the time the window shuts tonight.
Manchester United have been pushing Jadon Sancho towards the exit door for some time now, and they are locked in talks with Chelsea over the winger. At the time of writing, discussions are centred on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
Leaving Chelsea could be Raheem Sterling, though he is struggling to drum up interest having been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in the last few days.
Elsewhere at United, the club are expected to announce the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, while Scott McTominay will complete his move to Napoli.
West Ham United have enjoyed a busy window so far and aren’t done just yet, with PSG’s Carlos Soler set to join on loan. Heading out of London Stadium will be James Ward-Prowse to Nottingham Forest, which will also be a loan, and quite possibly Nayef Aguerd to Real Sociedad.
Ivan Toney has agreed to join Al Ahli from Brentford, though the Saudi Pro League side are also still trying to get Napoli’s Victor Osimhen over the line. Osimhen has also held talks with Chelsea.
One striker Chelsea are attempting to shift is Armando Broja, with talks reignited with Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys pulled the plug on a deal earlier this week following complications in the striker’s medical, but a deal is on the cards once again.
Tottenham Hotspur are finally ridding themselves of Giovani Lo Celso, who has agreed a return to former club Real Betis.
Everton will finalise a loan deal for Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala, who has Premier League experience from a spell at Forest.
Liverpool are expected to farm out a number of young players before the window closes, with forgotten defender Nat Phillips, now 27, also expected to depart for Championship new boys Derby County.
Brentford will loan out midfielder Frank Onyeka to Augsburg and bring in cover at left-back, with Southampton youngster Jayden Meghoma to join the Bees.
