RB Salzburg vs Dynamo Kyiv: Preview, predictions, team news
Red Bull Salzburg will look to clinch their 2024/25 Champions League berth in front of a home crowd against Dynamo Kyiv.
RB Salzburg came out on top last Wednesday against Dynamo Kyiv, winning the first leg of their Champions League playoff tie 2-0. Pepijn Lijnders‘ squad will look to replicate their performance at Red Bull Arena and become one of the first teams to make it out of the qualifying gauntlet.
Dynamo, on the other hand, will need a massive performance away from home if they want to keep their Champions League hopes alive. After being held scoreless for the first time since May, the Ukrainian giants must bounce back and find the back of the net to pressure the 17-time Austrian champions.
Here’s 90min’s guide to RB Salzburg vs Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Salzburg will still be without Karim Konate, their leading goalscorer from last season, as the forward recovers from a knee injury he suffered earlier in the month. Fernando and Takumu Kawamura are also unavailable due to injury.
Pepijn Lijnders will once again rely on Moussa Yeo to deliver up top; the 20-year-old has recorded three goals and four assists across all competitions so far.
19-year-old midfielder, Bobby Clark, officially completed his transfer from Liverpool to Salzburg, and enjoyed his first training session ahead of the Champions League playoff match.
RB Salzburg predicted lineup vs Dynamo Kyiv ( 4-3-3 ): Blaswich; Dedic, Piatkowski, Baidoo, Terzic; Bidstrup, Gourna-Douath, Kjaergaard; Gloukh, Yeo, Dorgeles
Maksym Dyachuk is still recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered earlier in the month, and therefore will only be able to watch his side compete against Salzburg. Matviy Ponomarenko will also miss the clash due to an ankle injury.
Oleksandr Shovkovskyi will likely stick with his strongest XI, featuring Andriy Yarmolenko, who scored against both Partizen Beograd and Rangers to get his side to the final stage of qualifying.
Dynamo Kyiv predicted lineup vs RB Salzburg ( 4-3-3 ): Bushchan; Karavaev, Popov, Mykhavko, Dubinchak; Pikhalyonok, Brazhko, Shaparenko; Yarmolenko, Vanat, Kabayev
Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s side should come out with a renewed focus after failing to score against Salzburg last week, but it will likely not be enough to overcome the 0-2 deficit they find themselves in. Expect Salzburg to find success at home and punch their ticket to the Champions League.
