Jack Grealish denies clashing with Aston Villa manager Dean Smith
Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has taken to social media to rubbish reports that he has had an argument with manager Dean Smith.
Grealish and Smith were seen talking angrily following Villa’s 3-2 defeat at Burnley on Wednesday.
The Daily Star reported the England international was involved in an argument with Burnley coach Ian Woan and it was alleged that he ‚gestured furiously‘ at his own boss Smith.
Having come across the report, the 25-year-old took to Twitter to deny the report and claimed that Smith was simply telling him to calm down.
Villa had led at Turf Moor twice courtesy of goals from summer signing Ollie Watkins and Grealish, but they left Lancashire empty handed after Dwight McNeil and Chris Wood added to Ben Mee’s strike inside the last 15 minutes.
Grealish has played every single minute in the Premier League for Aston Villa this season and his excellent performances along with some smart summer recruitment have seen them improve dramatically this season.
The 25-year-old has contributed an impressive six goals and 10 assists in 18 top-flight appearances since the start of the campaign.
As it stands, Villa are in 10th place but they have two games in hand over most of the sides above them and they could potentially close the gap on the top four to just two points by winning those games – further evidence of how far they’ve come this season.
Despite Wednesday’s result, things are going pretty well for the club this season, and fans will no doubt have been delighted to read the incident appears to have been blown out of proportion.
Smith’s side travel to Southampton this weekend in what’s expected to be a tight contest, and Grealish’s quality could just be the difference between the sides.
