Chelsea vs Burnley: Preview, predictions and lineups
Chelsea host Burnley on Saturday with both sides enduring torrid seasons that have seen them fall short of their objectives in the Premier League.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues are very faintly in the battle for a Europa Conference League place and beat Newcastle 3-2 in their last league match before knocking Leicester City out of the FA Cup.
The visiting Clarets sit five points from safety after some terrible form but managed a much-needed win over Brentford before the international break.
Here’s 90min’s preview of Chelsea vs Burnley in Gameweek 30.

Chelsea have suffered with injury problems all season long. Romeo Lavia has missed most of the campaign since signing from Southampton in the summer and has been ruled out for the remainder of 2023/24.
He remains on the sidelines alongside Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Lesley Ugochukwu, Levi Colwill, Carney Chukwuemeka, Robert Sanchez and Trevoh Chalobah.
Ben Chilwell picked up a knee injury on England duty and will be assessed ahead of kick-off, while there are minor concerns about Malo Gusto after he suffered with illness.
Chelsea predicted lineup vs Burnley (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Silva, Chilwell; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Mudryk; Jackson.
There are plenty of Burnley absentees for manager Vincent Kompany to work around too, with Aaron Ramsey, Luca Koleosho and Nathan Redmond all out. Jordan Beyer and Ameen Al-Dakhil are also doubts.
Burnley’s slim hopes of survival have been bolstered by four goals in eight games from David Datro Fofana but the striker is ineligible to play against his parent club, leaving Kompany with a decision to make in attack.
Burnley predicted lineup vs Chelsea (4-4-2): Trafford; Assignon, O’Shea, Esteve, Taylor; Vitinho, Cullen, Berge, Bruun Larsen; Odobert, Foster.
There’s a lack of confidence in both squads but that doesn’t change their desperation for points as crunch time approaches in the Premier League.
Consistency has been a major problem for the Blues throughout the campaign but they are unbeaten in four games in all competitions and enjoyed one of their most handsome wins of the season against their upcoming opponents in the reverse fixture at Turf Moor.
The Clarets will hope for an upset in west London and can take encouragement from some poor Chelsea performances at Stamford Bridge, but the hosts are still favourites to emerge victorious.
