He’s Manchester City’s all-time leading goalscorer, so yes, Sergio Aguero has scored against a fair few teams in his time.

In doing so, he’s helped the Citizens become the Premier League force they are today, playing vital roles in all four of their title triumphs in the competition.

So, let’s have a look at the teams the Argentine striker simply loves playing against.

Whenever Aguero plays Brighton, he scores.

The Argentine welcomed the Seagulls into the top flight with a goal against them on the opening day of the 2017/18 campaign and registered a double the last time he faced them.

City drew CSKA in consecutive Champions League group stages, with Aguero taking a particular liking to them in 2013/14.

He scored braces in both fixtures, resulting in 2-1 and 5-2 victories.

Aguero is yet to lose to Bournemouth during his City career. Most of the time, his side smash the Cherries.

He’s missed a few games against the south coast side over the years due to injury, but has still managed braces in two games.

Aguero also became the first City player to score 100 goals in games at the Etihad with a strike in December 2017.

Back when he was rattling in goals for Atletico Madrid in the 2000s, Recreativo Huelva were one of Aguero’s most favoured sides.

He regularly got on the scoresheet against the Andalusian outfit and also played his part in overturning a 3-0 deficit in the Copa del Rey in 2009/10 as Atleti won the second leg 5-1.

In recent seasons, Fulham have been synonymous with poor defending, which you’d think would make them ideal opponents for Aguero.

Unfortunately, injury issues have meant he hasn’t faced the Cottagers too many times, though he did rack up three against them in the 2011/12 season.

Aguero only won two of the eight matches he played against Mallorca for Atleti, but played crucial roles in both of those victories.

A brace came in a 2-0 success in 2008/09 before a hat trick in a 4-3 away win two seasons later.

Aguero probably didn’t envisage Leicester being title contenders and ultimately Premier League winners in 2015/16, though he did his best to stop them triumphing at the Etihad that season.

His strike in a 3-1 defeat that term was in vain, but he was at his emphatic best two seasons later when he grabbed four goals in a 5-1 victory over the Foxes.

Aguero probably thought he’d gifted City a precious win back in 2019/20 when he scored twice late on against Palace at the Etihad.

However, Fernandinho turned one into his own net in injury time to ensure the spoils were shared.

He did score in a 2-1 defeat for the Citizens, but the rest of his goals against Barça came for Atleti in La Liga.

As the two top teams in the Premier League, a rivalry has broken out between City and Liverpool in recent years.

That made Aguero’s goal in a 2-1 City win, which helped them retain their Premier League title, so important.

He also scored a pretty crazy goal against the Reds in 2012/13, curling in from near the touchline with goalkeeper Pepe Reina well off his line.

Aguero equalled the all-time goal record at City with a goal against Burnley in 2017 – he would break the record soon after by scoring at Napoli.

This strike from an incredibly acute angle is one of his best.

A few of Aguero’s landmark goals have come against City’s local rivals Manchester United.

His 50th for the Citizens came against the Red Devils in 2013 and he reached his century against the same opposition two years later.
