Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid agreed? PSG forward makes ‚assurance‘ to president
Kylian Mbappe has denied having an agreement in place to join Real Madrid this summer, local reports have claimed.
Mbappe has already privately communicated he will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer when his contract expires and reports suggest he has struck a deal to finally take him to Madrid on a free transfer.
In the meantime, Mbappe recently attended an event hosted by French president Emmanuel Macron to celebrate the visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani, where Macron is said to have cracked a joke about the 25-year-old’s future.
RMC Sport state that the event, for which several high-ranking officials in French sport were also in attendance, also saw Mbappe face questions about his next move.
Mbappe is said to have assured those in attendance that he has not yet finalised anything, despite reports suggesting he has already thrashed out a five-year contract with Madrid.
Regardless of his next move, Mbappe will finish the season with PSG but is facing a frosty few months following the confirmation of his departure from the club.
Mbappe was dropped to the bench for the first game in the immediate aftermath of his decision and, after returning to the starting lineup against Rennes, was hauled off around the hour mark despite PSG trailing 1-0 at the time.
Manager Luis Enrique, who has played down claims of a rift with Mbappe, later admitted he hooked the striker because his side need to get used to life without Mbappe „sooner or later„.
While PSG will lose Mbappe on a free transfer, an agreement reached with the Frenchman earlier this season will ensure they are protected financially. Mbappe has agreed to return as much as €80m (£69m) if he leaves without commanding a transfer fee, which PSG will use to fund a move for a replacement.
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are both among PSG’s possible targets.
