Premier League fixtures today – your guide to Thursday’s games

Business

Another midweek of Premier League action draws to a close this Thursday, with two more English top-flight matches for supporters to enjoy.

Both Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers managed victories against lower league opposition in the FA Cup last weekend and will meet at Molineux in a repeat of their league opener.

West Ham United enjoyed a weekend rest after being dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship Bristol City in the third round and will welcome in-form Bournemouth to the London Stadium on Thursday night.

Here is your guide to Thursday’s Premier League fixtures.

This will only be the 19th meeting between West Ham and Bournemouth and the second of which has taken place this season. The reverse fixture finished all-square on the opening day, Jarrod Bowen’s stunner cancelled out by Dominic Solanke’s late strike.

West Ham find themselves in a patch of underwhelming form, without a win in their last four games. That includes a dramatic draw with bottom of the table Sheffield United last time out, the Irons conceding an unfortunate penalty in the 13th minute of stoppage time.

Andoni Iraola’s side have been one of the form teams in the Premier League but suffered a humbling 4-0 defeat at home to table toppers Liverpool last time out. Fortunately for the former Rayo Vallecano coach, his players responded with five first-half goals against Swansea City in the FA Cup last Thursday.

There were signs that Man Utd might struggle this season when they welcomed Wolves to Old Trafford on the opening day of the season. Despite coming away with a fortuitous 1-0 win – Andre Onana fortunate not to concede a late penalty – the Old Gold caused Erik ten Hag’s side plenty of problems.

The Red Devils did secure their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday but suffered a scare at the hands of League Two Newport County. The Welsh side came back from two goals down to draw level with Man Utd, although they ultimately fell to a 4-2 defeat.

Wolves are unbeaten in their last seven games and haven’t lost at Molineux since a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in mid-September. While they will feel confident ahead of United’s visit, the Midlands club have lost their last five against the Manchester club without scoring.
