Newcastle vs Man Utd – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction
Two sides coming off the back of disappointing results in Europe meet on Saturday night in the Premier League when Newcastle United host Manchester United at St James‘ Park.
Neither team could secure a much-needed victory in midweek Champions League action as the Magpies were cruelly denied all three points at Paris Saint-Germain by a contentious late penalty, while the Red Devils threw away a 3-1 lead in Turkey as Galatasaray struck back to claim a point.
Newcastle have revived their league prospects after a difficult start to the campaign but sit in seventh, a place behind Man Utd who are the division’s form outfit with five wins from their last six games.
Here’s 90min’s previews of the game on Saturday evening.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe didn’t make any substitutions during his side’s 1-1 draw with PSG on Tuesday night, such is the state of injuries in his squad currently.
Alexander Isak has started two games in a row since returning from injury but the likes of Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Sean Longstaff, Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock, Elliot Anderson, Emil Krafth and Matt Targett are all sidelined by knocks of varying severity.
17-year-old Lewis Miley has been thrown into the mix due to the fitness crisis and could feature in the starting XI again, though fellow teenager Lewis Hall is one of the limited options at Howe’s disposal to come in if needed.
Newcastle predicted lineup vs Manchester United (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Livramento; Miley, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
Their problems aren’t as extensive as Newcastle’s but Man Utd still have some important players sidelined for the trip to St James‘ Park.
Rasmus Hojlund managed just under an hour of the 3-3 draw with Galatasaray on his return to the starting XI, while Luke Shaw played the whole game at left-back. Marcus Rashford was suspended in Europe but should return.
Kobbie Mainoo could come back into the team to provide more composure in possession at Sofyan Amrabat’s expense, but Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia won’t play.
Manchester United predicted lineup vs Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Mainoo; Rashford, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund.
Neither Newcastle nor Man Utd could pick up the wins they so desperately needed in the Champions League ahead of this game, which itself could have a large bearing on who reaches Europe’s flagship club competition next season.
That said, the Magpies have been much easier to predict in recent weeks, especially at St James‘ Park – Howe’s side have won six of their seven home league games so far this term.
That dominant record in familiar surroundings might prove too much for Man Utd, who haven’t beaten Newcastle in the two games between them since last season’s Carabao Cup final.
