Marc Guehi makes transfer decision amid Chelsea & Man Utd interest

Marc Guehi is keen to remain with Crystal Palace until the summer transfer window to boost his chances of making England’s squad for Euro 2024, 90min understands.

The 23-year-old, a graduate of Chelsea’s academy, has shone since leaving Stamford Bridge in 2021, racking up close to 100 appearances for Palace and claiming a regular place as a backup in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

His form has caught the eye of a number of sides across the Premier League and wider Europe. In England, Guehi has been closely watched by former employers Chelsea and sources have confirmed to 90min that the defender would be open to a return to his boyhood club.

Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been tracking the centre-back, while German giants Bayern Munich have expressed an interest in signing Guehi.

However, 90min understands Guehi has no plans to leave Palace in the January transfer window as he seeks to avoid any move which could harm his chances of making the England squad next summer.

Guehi has nine caps for England but is far from a guaranteed starter with the Three Lions, who are blessed with a number of options at centre-back, and the 23-year-old wants to give himself the best chance of retaining his place in Southgate’s setup.

„We’re really pleased with Marc,“ Palace boss Roy Hodgson said recently. „Since he came to the club he’s just gone from strength to strength and I’m pretty sure all the things we appreciate with him and admire about him won’t be un-noticed in the England setup.

„We hope he will stay fit and we wish him well and then it will be up to Gareth to decide what he wants to do. All Marc can do is to keep being Marc Guehi in my opinion.“

Palace have no interest in parting ways with Guehi either. The defender remains under contract until 2026 and there are even plans to offer Guehi a new contract with a significant pay rise as a reward for his continued improvement.

Eberechi Eze recently signed a new deal at Selhurst Park, following Michael Olise in doing so, and Palace are hopeful of keeping their young core together a little while longer.
