Newcastle vs Southampton – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups & prediction
Two teams with wildly differing ambitions will collide on Sunday as high-flyers Newcastle host the desperate Southampton.
With ten goals in their last two games, Newcastle have sent a clear message that they don’t plan on surrendering third place in the Premier League. They’ve played some of their best football of the season recently which, given the standard they have set this year, should spark real fear in Southampton hearts.
The Saints are sat bottom of the league, six points from safety after their defeat to Bournemouth on home soil. Nothing can be decided this week, but Southampton are running out of time to close the six point gap between themselves and safety.
Here’s all you need to know about this one.

Newcastle team news
Eddie Howe is hopeful that Allan Saint-Maximin’s hamstring injury has not ended his season, but this game will come too soon for the Frenchman. The boss suggested next week’s game against Arsenal as a more-realistic target.
Right-back Emil Krafth also remains out.
(4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Willock; Murphy, Isak, Joelinton

Southampton team news
James Ward-Prowse had to leave the Bournemouth game early due to illness but Ruben Selles was confident the midfielder would be back for this one, pending one final chat with the club doctor.
Tino Livramento and Armel Bella-Kotchap are both injury doubts while Mohammed Salisu, Romain Perraud and Juan Larios are all expected to miss out.
(4-4-2): McCarthy; Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Caleta-Car, Perraud; Elyounoussi, Ward-Prowse, Lavia, Armstrong; Walcott, Alcaraz
There’s only one way this can go.
Newcastle are on top of the world and Southampton are right at the very bottom, literally and metaphorically. Selles will need a minor miracle to avoid a comprehensive defeat, letalone limp away with a share of the spoils.
Don’t expect much competition from this game.
Prediction: Newcastle 3-0 Southampton
